I am blessed by a special visit from a friend this week. God orchestrated our friendship while on a mission’s trip to her home in the Dominican Republic. Here is a devotional from my sweet friend Ingrid Aquino.
But God I trust in you, Lord; I say, “You are my God.” My times are in your hands;…(Psalm 31:14).
“When I read this verse I think of the idea that God is in control of every season, every circumstance, and every detail in my life. In his hands are my times. When I think about waiting; especially about waiting in my relationships, I need to realize we are Gods children and it is His timing. He is directing. Everything is part of His portion, and in the end—all the waiting is worth it. Sometimes we don’t understand why God is taking so long. We might think: “I’m getting old—what is going on?” But we can trust that it is in His perfect will. I know.”
Charles Spurgeon agrees. He reminds,“David was not afraid of his circumstances, because all things were in God’s divine hands. Knowing that the Lord had him in the palm of His hands. Being completely willing and available for God is life and freedom. Time changes. According to the one who changes times…all things are in the hands of the Almighty God. He assigns everything according to his Holy will and purpose… Times may vary according to the One who doesn’t change, and has no shadow of variation. It is my ups, my downs, my poverty, my wealth. All things are in His hands. He has assigned according to his Holy will, the length of my days and the darkness of my nights—Charles Spurgeon/sermon 2205. http://www.spurgeon.com.mx/sermon 2205.html
As we enter a new year, I pray you will come to trust the One who holds your “time” in His hands.
Happy New Year!!
