I thank my God every time I remember you. (Philippians 1:3).
Every now and then I run into someone in a store and think; I need to send them a note.
Then life pulls up in a hurry with lots of laundry and packed lunches and my good intentions snuggle up and take a snooze. So, here’s a giant Thank You Note to some who have breathed air into the undercurrent of this wind I call writing. And although this wind isn’t grand. It isn’t even a gust, really. More like a simple breeze. But there are a few people who have brought the breeze gentle and sure. And even though I don’t run into some of these women at the store, I need to send them a note.
Rhonda Rhea returned an email many years ago; she had no idea what she was signing herself up for. Endless questions met with endless encouragement. God has given her many gifts, one of them: Mercy with a capital M. She tries to pass herself off as a humorist, but I know she is really an angel. I’ve seen her wings!!! She’s shared her advice and even her chocolate with me. What more could a girl want? Thank You Rhonda!!
Virelle Kidder is a friend. A friend is someone eager to love others. Her kind words have surfaced in the night when I know I have no new words, no great words that have never-ever been put to page. But I have the hope that someone will see my life and think, “ Wow… I’m not as messed up as she is!!” I’m always eager to make someone feel good. And so is Virelle. Her selflessness rings as she toots everyone else’s horn. But I am blowing her horn like crazy. Do you hear it Virelle?? I know it’s hard to hear when you’re in Florida, and I’m in Ohio. Thank You friend!
Glynnis Whitwer is the most patient person on the face of this round globe. Her editing skills and deep love for Jesus has guided my sails when frankly, I didn’t know where I was going. Not that I do now! But her friendship is priceless — I love this lady through and through. Proverbs 31 Ministries offered me opportunities that I neither earned nor deserved. They believe in me when I don’t believe in myself. Thank You P31!
Patsy Dole is my best friend. Poor thing. Poor, poor thing!!! All I can say, she bases her life on God’s word and has encouraged me to do the same. My accountability partner (not an easy task) for over a decade, she’s helped to fill in the painful cracks of life with laughter and love. We have laughed until we cried. We have cried until the Kleenex disintegrated and there were no more words, just God’s steadfast promises. She also doesn’t laugh at me when I chase dreams—even those soooo far from reach. Thank You buddy!!
To My Family I say thank you for joining me in this crazy thing called life, and allowing me to share God’s goodness through our pain. I love you more than any written word, could or would, describe. Maybe… I could describe my love with a contended sigh. A sigh that looks through hope-filled windows with Mickey Mouse ears and proclaims, “This is the best day of my life!” Those words hang above the doorway in our home and describe my love for you. You know life isn’t easy or safe. But God didn’t promise those things. He promised fierce! Be fierce for Him!! He loves you fiercely—so do I!!!
